About Trailer Towing Mirrors

- Function. The function of trailer towing mirrors is to allow the driver or passenger to see around large trailers that are attached to the vehicle. Ordinary mirrors are simply not up to the task and many can even be dangerous when towing. Trailer towing mirror will extend out much farther than the stock units, allowing better visibility and improved safety.
- Types. There are two general types of trailer towing mirrors: clip-on styles and complete replacement mirrors. The clip-on style will normally attach or slide over the existing side mirrors, giving a greater range of visibility with the added option of easy removal when not towing. For vehicles that tow regularly, one can simply replace the stock mirrors with the larger tow style mirrors for a permanent change
- Features. A trailer towing mirror will feature clips or a mounting system if the unit is the removable type and normally will bolt on for the permanent style. Newer trailer towing mirrors even come with electrical hookups which allow drivers to change the mirror angle from inside the vehicle.
- Size. A trailer towing mirror can be anywhere from normal passenger car size to gigantic square units for the bigger trucks.
